ABOUT ME
As Senior Director of Branding and Audience Development at Washington, D.C.’s NPR affiliate, WAMU 88.5, I lead the station’s marketing and membership efforts. This includes directing all branding, marketing, and communications; developing on-air and digital fundraising campaigns; overseeing media relations and social media activities; and raising the profile, prominence, and value of WAMU regionally and nationally.
Before coming to WAMU, I oversaw messaging strategy, social media, and annual marketing plans for alumni and donor communications at Duke University. Prior to this, I worked at advertising agencies including Blue State in Washington, D.C., and McCann Erickson in New York. My work focused on uncovering audience insights to shape digital programs and marketing direction for clients including World Wildlife Fund, the Smithsonian, Nikon, General Mills, and MasterCard.
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in Film & Television Production and Psychology and an MBA from The Pennsylvania State University’s Smeal College of Business. While completing my MBA, my wife and I founded and led a social outreach campaign, Blue Out Penn State, in response to the university’s child abuse scandal. The annual event has encouraged over 300,000 people to participate in a grassroots awareness movement and raised over $150,000 for related charities.
